Petri-Jaan Lahtvee, PhD

Senior scientist/Group leader

lahtvee [at] ut [dot] ee

Dr. Petri-Jaan Lahtvee finished his Ph.D. in Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia, on multi-omic’ energy efficiency studies on industrially relevant microbes’ lactic acid bacteria and E. coli. Thereafter, Petri joined the Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden where he applied systems biology methods for understanding yeast stress tolerance. After finishing his 3-year postdoc, Petri became a group leader at the University of Tartu. His research group is focused on both, computational and wet lab applications of synthetic and systems biology. By combining these approaches, they are working on the fundamental science questions and translating them into industrial biotechnology applications by constructing more efficient producer cells. In particular, they are mainly working with the conventional baker’s yeast as well as other, non-conventional yeast strains and bacteria.
